Yoga Retreat Near Bangalore, in the Open Air
Two sessions a day with the hills as the backdrop, and no requirement to have ever rolled out a mat before. Sunrise Hatha and evening restorative yoga are included for every overnight guest at Ayu In The Hills, Doddaballapura.
A yoga retreat near Bangalore built around daily practice
If you are looking for a yoga retreat near Bangalore where practice is the shape of the day rather than an activity on a list, this is that kind of place. Ayu In The Hills sits in Makalidurga Village, Doddaballapura, near Bengaluru — far enough out for a sunrise session to be genuinely quiet, and structured enough that you don't have to plan anything once you arrive. Yoga runs twice a day, every day, and it is included for overnight guests.

Yoga in the open air, surrounded by the hills
Our yoga space sits out on the grounds, with the hills as a backdrop and trees close by. Mornings start cool and still; by the evening session, the light is low and the day has gone quiet — it's a different room by the same name, twice a day.
Sessions are kept small and unhurried. Mats, blocks and blankets are provided, and no prior experience is expected — we've had first-timers and decade-long practitioners on the same mat.
Practising outdoors is the part most guests remember. It is not a studio with a nature photograph on the wall; it is actual air, actual birds, and a horizon to look at when you come up out of a posture.

Yoga styles at the retreat
Practices chosen for the time of day rather than a timetable of trends.
Hatha Yoga
A steady, posture-focused practice used for the sunrise session — the foundation most of our guests build on through their stay.
Restorative Yoga
Slow, supported poses using bolsters and blankets, timed for the evening session before dinner.
Pranayama
Guided breathing practices woven into both sessions, and offered on their own for guests who want a shorter sit.
Guided Meditation
A short seated practice after the sunrise session, in the quiet of the grounds — join it or head straight to breakfast.

Is this yoga retreat suitable for beginners?
Yes — and this is worth saying plainly, because it is the question we are asked most often. No previous yoga experience is required. All levels are welcome, and beginners practise alongside people who have been at it for years without anyone being made to feel out of place.
Two things make that work. Sessions are kept small, so nobody is lost at the back of a full hall. And the instructor is on the property every day, which means pacing is set by whoever has actually turned up that morning rather than by a fixed lesson plan.
Mats, blocks and blankets are provided — bring clothes you can move in, and that is genuinely all the preparation needed.

A resident instructor, on the property every day
Sessions are led by our resident yoga instructor, based at the property rather than flown in for a workshop. That means classes stay small, pacing adjusts to whoever's on the mat that morning, and questions get answered in person rather than over an app.
This is an experiential retreat practice, not a certification course — there's no teacher-training curriculum here, just two honest sessions a day.
Our yoga and wellness sessions are about practice, movement, breath and rest. They are not a medical treatment, do not diagnose or cure any condition, and do not replace advice from a qualified doctor.
Yoga retreat packages and stay durations
Yoga is included with any overnight stay. If you would rather have the whole stay built around the practice, we run structured retreats by duration — from a one-night taster to a full seven-night immersion, with yoga, Ayurveda and pure vegetarian meals in one booking.

3 Nights / 4 Days — Yoga Retreat
Twice-daily yoga, a wellness consultation, one Ayurvedic therapy, guided meditation, and pure-vegetarian meals throughout your stay. Shorter 1 and 2-night tasters and a longer 7-night immersion are also available.
- 1 or 2 nights — a weekend yoga retreat near Bangalore, enough for two to four sessions and a proper night's sleep.
- 3 nights / 4 days — our core yoga retreat, with the practice, an Ayurvedic therapy and meals structured for you.
- 7 nights — an immersion for guests who want the routine to properly settle in.

Yoga, Ayurveda and pure vegetarian food
The practice does not sit on its own here. It belongs to the same thinking as the rest of the stay — an unhurried rhythm rooted in Ayurvedic principles of balance, which you can read more about on our Ayurveda retreat page.
Every kitchen on the property is pure vegetarian, with seasonal food prepared fresh and served in an open-air dining hall — see pure vegetarian dining. Between sessions there are walks, quiet corners and open air; our experiences page covers the rest.
If you would rather build a stay around rest generally than around daily practice specifically, our wellness retreat packages are the better starting point.
